Region Decomposition of Face Expressions

We performed 3D face reconstructions with various facial expressions by using combinations of different principal components obtained from Principal Component Analysis (PCA).
We implemented the local decomposition method by applying PCA on vertices of each face region and enforced smoothness across regions.
The local decomposition method increased the representation power significantly compared to the global decomposition, and the smoothness enforcement helped the connection between individual bases, and thus helped the local manipulation.
